    Presenting Your Strategy - Guideline

This section is reserved for you to present your strategy. The goal is to collect feedback from other affiliates, which will help you

    1. Avoid mistakes before making them

    2. Receive input on how to optimize your idea

    3. Source talent to achieve your goals

    4. Generally to see where you stand and whether it is perceived as a good idea (it could be that someone else tried something similar before)

When starting a new post in this section, please make sure to include as much info as possible. This will allow others to provide more relevant feedback. We recommend to structure your post into three segments:

    1. Presentation of Your Strategy

    • Strategy Name (should be placed in the title of the post)

    • Medium of Choice (Facebook, Email, Flyers, Billboards)

    • Target Audience

    • Budget

    • Time Horizon (How much time are you planning to spend on this and how regularly?)

    2. Questions/Areas of Concern/Possible Modifications

    • What part of your strategy are you unsure about?

    • What type of modifications are you considering?

    • What type of feedback are you hoping to receive?

    3. Edits

This section can be updated as feedback comes in and which you are considering to implement into your strategy (written in blue in the example below).

Once you try something, it would be great to reflect on that implemented feedback. This will help others to learn from your experience (written as updates in the example below).

    Example Post:

    1. Presentation of Your Strategy

Hello guys. I am planning to distribute brochures in my home city and (where possible) interact with people face to face. My goal would be to go out every sunday and distribute a target amount of 1,000 brochures before returning home.

When I notice someone gets curious and wants to interact, I will focus my time on that person to explain the basics (including why LockTrip can be cheaper in the first place). Maybe even hand him out a more in-depth version where additional information is provided. I plan to make a 4-week trial with this strategy and would love to read about your input.

My budget is $500 for now.

    2. Questions

    • Where do you think is it best to distribute them? I was thinking in the city center for highest volumes. But maybe people will be too busy there to take notice of what's written in the brochure?

    • Is someone good at designing things? Would prefer to pay someone from the community rather than a random designer I don't know.

    3. Edits

Thanks for your feedback guys! Here is a summary of what I will adjust based on your feedback received:

Instead of printing brochures I will be starting with fylers first. Thanks @John!

I will also be looking into the design tool @User 2 suggested.

    • Update: I tried the tool and it is very powerful. But I found it a bit expensive for the value it adds.

I will be experimenting with different locations and track each of them with a unique code, as suggested my multiple community members.

    • Update: Some regions had more than twice the conversion rate. Can confirm this worked for me! I am now focusing on these areas.

Once you have your results, please share them with the community. An admin will pin it for the "Best Answer"as shown below.

Note that this structure is a guideline and not a rule. Other variants are equally welcomed.

    Best Answer
      ·  Aug 4, 2020

Hello everyone. I am now 6 weeks into testing (added another 2, since it worked so well). These are my results so far:

    • Total cost: $250 (thanks to the flyer solution proposed, total costs were significantly less than expected)

    • Total referrals acquired: 50

    • Total bookings referred: 8

    • Total revenue to date: $105 and counting

    • Total time invested: 15 hours (excluding designing the flyers)

I am usually done distributing 1,000 units within 2-3 hours. If things continue as they are now, I should be able to get back my investment in roughly 2 months. From then onward it will all be profit.

Considering to increase my time investment from the current 2-3 hours per week (on Sundays) to 10+ hours soon 😁 Will keep you posted!

To keep people posted after a period of time, please reply to your previous update (which has been marked as "Best Answer") as this example shows. This will create a new activity and the community will be able to follow it from the "latest activities".

If you were to just edit your previous post, it will likely remain unnoticed.

    Flyers vs. Brochures

Have you thought about using flyers instead of brochures? Just did a quick search and it looks like you can print 10x as many flyers for the same cost.

    Something worth to consider.

I have made the best experiences with A/B testing. Just try different locations and see what works best.

As a rule of thumb you will probably see the highest volumes in the city centers, but I would imagine that conversion rates will be better in the outer circles. Make sure to track the following two metrics:

    • Conversion rate (LockTrip allows you to track this automatically in your affiliate dashboard)

    • Distribution rate (how long does it take you to distribute your target goal of 1,000 flyers?)

Based on these two metrics you can then calculate where you get the most bookings per hour spent!

Thanks for the valuable input! Will definitely do.

Regarding your question of where to distribute:

I would suggest to try a different location every week. You can use a separate discount code for each of them and see where you have the best conversion. It would be impossible for us to tell where in your city the best locations are.

Testing is the key to success :)
